Mum loved Christmas - she loved all the big occassions. We always made a big thing of decorating the tree and she would be the worse of all when it came to guessing what the presents were (she used to shake them!!). We had family over normally on Boxing Day as Mum loved to entertain them- we would eat, reminisce and play charades. We had some lovely Christmases and I will always remember Mum and try and make my childrens Christmases just as special. Miss you lots Mum xxx

Mum always made a big thing about birthdays -she hated missing anyone's birthday (although it was a running joke about Uncle Ian's - she never quite could get the date right!).

 

She loved flowers on her birthday and lots of little things - rather than big expensive presents. Champagne went to her head after half a glass - but she liked going for a meal, somewhere close and cosy. Sometimes her birthday coincided with Mothers Day - then there was a double celebration. She would have been 74 today - and the flowers are in a vase next to her photo. I know she sees them.

Mum loved Easter. Every year either we went to visit her sister Irene and family or they came over to us on Easter Sunday. We would decorate the house with bunnies and chickens etc - I think Mum preferred Easter to Christmas in many ways. There was always fresh spring flowers in the house and tea would consist of choccie cake, simnel cake and such fare. It was always a bright and fun occasion - and once Sophie got older, we started having Easter egg hunts too - a tradition I carry on for her and my other children, Hannah, Freya and Thomas.
